TRAILER USE GUIDELINES
To ensure safety, proper handling, and the return of trailers in good condition, all customers must adhere to the following guidelines while using equipment rented from Dayton Utility Trailer Rentals:
1. GENERAL SAFETY
-
Only licensed drivers over the age of 21 may tow the trailer.

Always perform a walk-around safety inspection before use.
-
Confirm that all lights, signals, and brakes are working before traveling.
-
Never exceed the trailer’s weight capacity (GVWR).
-
Secure all loads properly using approved tie-downs or ratchet straps.
2. ATTACHING & DETACHING
-
Trailer must be properly hitched with safety chains and lights connected.
-
Ensure the hitch ball size matches the trailer coupler.
-
Tongue jack must be raised fully before towing.
-
Double-check latch pins and locks before travel.
3. WHILE IN USE
-
Drive no faster than 65 MPH when towing.
-
Make wide turns and brake early.
-
Avoid sudden lane changes or sharp maneuvers.
-
Never leave trailer unattended with a load on uneven ground.
-
Do not use the trailer to transport hazardous or flammable materials.
4. PARKING & STORAGE
-
Always park on level ground.
-
Use wheel chocks when parked.
-
Never store the trailer in an unsafe or unauthorized area.
-
Ensure trailer is locked when not in use.
5. DAMAGE & CLEANLINESS
-
Renter is responsible for all damage not due to normal wear and tear.
-
Trailer must be returned clean and free of debris or mud.
-
Any tire blowouts or damage due to overloading are the renter’s responsibility.
6. RETURNING THE TRAILER
-
Return on or before the scheduled return time.
-
Late returns may result in additional fees.
-
Trailer must be inspected by staff upon return.
